EndDays - Post-apocalyptic Future

The Mayans' calendar ends with the year of 2012, and the world is said to be doomed to annihilation. Mass hysteria spreads among the superstitious, while the realists and religious of the world turn up their chins and cast this off as foolishness; after all, some believe that the Mayan's simply died out due to some realistic cause before they could finish. Whereas others, the religious ones, believe in what their Gods say.

January 13th 2012 arrives, and with it a planet-sized anomaly. It is an immeasurable, swirling mass of unknown origins dominating the empty space next to Earth and weighing down the human race with sheer intimidation alone. People stare up at it with eyes clouded with fear; their faces blanketed by darkness. Others wallow indoors, hopeless; helpless.

It blocks out the sun in all its abysmal glory.

Beasts seemingly from human imagination emerge from the thing that is the anomaly and launch an attack to annihilate the peoples of earth. They take on many forms; humans and animals. Some even undescribable. They are strong and frightening, and with time have learned to use human weaponry.

Not that they need to.

Many of them, these monsters, come with their own weapons and powers in tow and devastatingly crushing humans with the flick of their wrists. Scholars and historians, even in all the chaos, believe that they are the cause of all the great disasters of the past. The extinction of the dinosaurs, The Great Flood, Babylon, and even the sea of blood are now speculated to have been caused by them.

Cryptozoologists have the belief that they were here on this planet first but somehow, when man came to be, they retreated into the depths of space only showing themselves in so many years to wipe out the populations of the still young humankind and bring about catastrophies. Religious nuts, scientific freaks, history fanatics; they all have their own beliefs for why they are here. But that doesn’t matter; man needs them gone.

Enter the Vindicators.

Military might only does so much, for so long, before men become tired and can no longer fight the fiends of nightmares. The entire world begs its leaders and Gods for a solution. The solution comes in the form of a new type of weapon being created by several of the world’s greatest minds collaborated. This new creation is known as a XERO; semi-artificially created living weapons. These creatures are lab-born yet they share their brethrens DNA and appearances. With the help of special humans called Beschützers and the XERO, the fight to end hell on earth goes on.
