A threat thinly veiled as advice. Ah, how cute. Despite his amusement, he still felt his lips pull back tighter, twisting his smile into something that resembled a sneer. He was certain that, at this moment, his usually soft blue eyes resembled something more like ice. This cold look stayed on his face for a brief moment before he slipped on a mask of indifference. "I suppose you're right, Lord Stark. I should try to be more careful in the future." His friendly grin returned. "Though why would you have fired an arrow when you already knew someone was there? Seems a tad reckless to me." Foolish boy. Who does he think he is?
"Have you caught anything today?"
He let out a soft chuckle at the man's question, hoping it would sound genuine enough. He spread his arms out, gesturing to the area around him as if to say "do you see any prey here?" "Alas, I have yet to catch anything. I'm starting to think my hunting skills aren't what they used to be."
Another laugh. "In my younger years I would have almost certainly bagged a prize buck by now." He grinned, a slightly nostalgic look crossing his face. "Ah youth. Sadly it must leave us all." His eyes then turned towards a small bird that was flying nearby. They followed its path until he heard the Lord ask him another question. "I cannot lie, it is quite enjoyable. It's so much easier to rule over your lands when you don't have to constantly worry about being attacked." He looked back at the younger lord. "I assume the cold would have to help you a fair bit up there in Winterfell. No one's as willing to fight when they're cold. At least, they aren't in my experience." He paused and looked at Lord Stark. It's always good to know just how strong your competition is."I've got to keep food on the table and my blade sharp, just like everyone else Lord Arryn." "True, but from what I understand most lords just hire professional huntsmen to get their meat for them." He slid his bow onto his back and began to lean against a nearby tree. "I guess not everyone's as willing to get their hands dirty as us." One of his forefingers began to trace along his chin. "Well, not everyone can be a man of action." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"True, but from what I understand most lords just hire professional huntsmen to get their meat for them."
"Aye, I like to know what I am eating and do not mind getting my hands dirty."
It was simple, the High lords were at risk of being killed more than ever, if one died then a bigger opening had been made for someone new to take the Throne. That was not something he was willing to risk for a simple well cooked meal. A simple slip of poison was all it took to bring down a man, the Old Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, had proven that. "Tell me Lord Balthazar, have you taken a wife yet?" It was an honest question, though it would tell Brandon whether or not he'd lost an ally due to the marriage of the enemy. It did not pain Brandon to speak to Lord Arryn as it had to speak to Lord Tyrell. To him, the Lord of Highgarden had a look of hunger about him, one that wouldn't be satisfied by a nice stew of venison. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Balthazar leaned forward so he was no longer resting against the trunk of the tree next to him. He listened to the younger lord's words in silence, not missing Lord Stark's failure to comment on his remark about Winterfell's defenses. I suppose that is quite wise of him to do. I wouldn't want to go around telling all my rivals about how great or terrible my defenses are. Either way, you're bound to end up in trouble. He thought about his own home back in the Vale. Though I suppose I have no need to worry about such instances. The Eyrie's strengths are already infamous. Everyone knows she's an impregnable stronghold.
"Aye, I like to know what I am eating and do not mind getting my hands dirty."
"Ah, wise man. It's always nice to get that extra feeling of security when you eat something that you've caught yourself. Poison is always a worry for men of our stature. But I suppose most worry they'll just end up getting themselves killed on the hunt anyway." He rolled his eyes. "Any fool with any amount of skill should be able to keep himself alive during a hunt. Just don't drink too much and you should be fine." He smiled at the Lord of Winterfell. "But you already know all this. I certainly don't need to be telling this to you."
"Tell me Lord Balthazar, have you taken a wife yet?"
At this one small question, the Lord's smile faded away. He opened his mouth to speak, then closed it. Open it again, and then closed it. He took a step back and ran his fingers through his hair, all the while fixing his eyes on his feet. Damn't, why am I acting like this? It was an arranged marriage; I didn't even love her. Did I? He pinched the bridge of his nose, hoping his face didn't give away too much of his inner turmoil. All right, just breathe. You can handle this. Just breathe. It's a normal question. Breathe.
He looked back at Lord Stark and smiled faintly, still not able to completely conceal the sorrow in his eyes. "Ah, well, yes and no." He paused. I should probably elaborate. "You see, I did actually have a wife. We were married when we were eighteen. Quite young I know." He glanced away, then looked back. "The thing is, she...Passed away. It happened just over a year ago, to be honest." I thought everyone already knew this.

The thing is, she...Passed away. It happened just over a year ago, to be honest."
The words fell ill on Brandon`s ears. Although he had never taken a with, he could only imagine what terrible feeling Lord Arryn had felt, and probably still felt. "I'm truly sorry to hear that, but I must ask...do you intend to marry once more? I plan to marry once I find a suitable...house."
He was talking about a house alliance, though if he could he would choose to marry someone he loved. The wind blew and Winter, Brandon`s white direwolf began to growl. "Aye, I believe he has caught scent of something. We should catch it, perhaps we could share the spoils." it was simply polite gesture, to try and gain the true of the Lord of the Eryie and and the Warden of the East.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
